World's Shortest Person in Nepal?


Khagendra Thapa Magar, 15 and a half, sits in the lap of a fully grown adult friend on March 13, 2007 in Pokhara, Nepal. According to the Guinness World Book of Records when Khagendra turns 18, weighing 4.5 kg, and only 20 inches tall, he will officially be eligible as an adult to become the shortest person living on this planet. Khagendra lives with his biological family and is also cared for as a family member by his manager who has set up a foundation in his name. He eats about 100g of food per day.


Seventeen-year-old Nepalese boy, who is only 50cm tall, is all set to register his name in the Guinness Book of World Records as the shortest person in the world.


Khagendra Thapa Magar, from Baglung district of western Nepal had applied for the same a couple of years ago, but provisions of the Guinness Book do not allow the registration of under 18 candidate in the world's shortest person category.


The boy, whose weight is also an unusual 4.5 kg, will have to wait till October 14 this year when he turns 18, according to his family.


The boy yesterday met Nepalese Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala at a function and sought the government's help in getting his name registered in the Guinness Book as the shortest person in the world.
