Hong Kong stocks close 0.44% higher

Hong Kong stocks gained 91.86 points, or 0.44 percent, to close at 21,161.42 on Friday.

With a 0.25-percent higher opening, the benchmark Hang Seng Index moved up with ease until reaching the day high of 21,306.11 as the Chinese mainland announced better-than-expected economic data and new loans in August. The market trimmed some of its gains in the afternoon and ended the trading 91.86 points higher.

Turnover stood at HK$ 61.05 billion ($7.88 billion), compared with HK$67.6 billion on the previous day.
