Mohammad Hussein Andiwal, police chief of Helmand province, said that it occurred on early Friday morning when a convoy of local private security company hit mines possibly planted some days ago in the Nawad district, killing three guards and injuring four others.
"The mines planted by Taliban insurgents were exploded by remote control," he added.
Meanwhile, Taliban militants ambushed a logistic convoy for NATO troops in the Kabul-Kandahar highway leaving one local guard dead and five others wounded, said Jailani Khan, the deputy policechief of Zabul province.
Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, purported Taliban spokesman, said that Taliban took responsibilities for both attacks.
