RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Brazil registered a trade surplus of 1.6 billion U.S. dollars in November, up 32 percent from October but down 20 percent from last year's November, the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade said Monday.
Brazilian exports in November totaled 14.7 billion dollars, down 12.3 percent from October and up 5 percent from November 2007.
Imports totaled 13.1 billion dollars in the month, dropping by 16.5 percent from October and increasing 9.2 percent from November 2007.
The accumulated exports in 2008 totaled 184.1 billion dollars, a surge of 25.2 percent from the same period of last year, while the figure for imports was 161.7 billion dollars, an increase of 46.3 percent.
These figures put Brazil's accumulated trade surplus for the January-November period at 22.4 billion dollars, falling some 38.6 percent from that of the same period of last year.
The Brazilian Central Bank said on Monday that Brazil was projected to have a trade surplus of 23.6 billion dollars for the whole 2008. Brazil had a trade surplus of 20.8 billion dollars in 2007.
