Britney Spears' lawyer shot down a plea deal that would have placed the singer, 26, on a year's probation and forced her to pay a $150 fine in her ongoing misdemeanor driver's license case, the Associated Press reports.
The 26-year-old Spears’ attorney suggested Spears was receiving tougher treatment than non-celebrity defendants.
"It should be an infraction. It's kind of mind-boggling that they want to convict her of a misdemeanor," Flanagan said.
Her case is now set to go before a jury on Oct. 15. Flanagan plans to appeal any conviction.
In 2007, Spears was charged with misdemeanor driving without a valid California license and hit-and-run following a fender-bender in a store parking lot.
