LIMA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Canada signed an agreement with Peru here on Thursday to help the South American nation build its first macro-region covering the northern Peruvian provinces of Amazonas, San Martin and La Libertad, officials said.

Canadian support will help the region recognize its potential and identify areas for future development, said Peruvian Prime Minister Jorge del Castillo.

The agreement will allow a territorial and "geomatics" management for the region, to make accurate evaluations of its natural resources and facilitate the creation of a cadaster and of title deeds, said the Canadian ambassador to Lima, Genevieve des Rivieres.

"Geomatics is a technology of the future for territorial management. It is a technology that allows a register of what may yield revenues and its natural resources, and management of the territory through the cadaster and title deeds," she added.

The technology has been applied in Canada and proved helpful in improving management of different regions and boosting revenue, the ambassador said.

Canada will also help train Peruvian technicians in geomatics, she added.
