Tucked away on a hushed side street of Hongqiao, this modest restaurant offers a variety of wheat pancakes (35-52 yuan), chocolate and fruit crepes (32-65 yuan) and garden salads (35-52 yuan).
The crisp and light greens, tomatoes, olives and goat cheese of the fresh garden salad (52 yuan) were ideal for inspiring cool hopes for a summery afternoon. Next we opted for a chocolate, banana and rum flambeed crepe (65 yuan) and an apple cinnamon crepe (42 yuan).
Paired with a bowl of fine vanilla ice cream, the apple and cinnamon elicited a fanfare of applause from our taste buds amid its otherwise average company.
Derived from Bebemamie's all-natural yogurt delivery service, the restaurant doesn't carry over much of its namesake apart from its emphasis on fresh and natural products-handmade yogurt, organic vegetables and so on. Still, we found enjoying a few crepes in a cozy setting to be calming and, indeed, fresh.
