BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- The fifth Baikal Economic Forum (BEF) will be held in Irkutsk, Russia, from Sept. 8-11, according to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat.
The forum, one of the biggest business forums in Russia, is a key event in the economic and political life of the Siberian and Far East regions.
BEF 2008 will focus on the complex development programs for eastern Siberia and the Far East and their integration into the world economy.
Delegations from more than 20 countries will discuss issues including energy, large investment projects, development of basic resources in the Siberian region, construction and development of the transportation and communication networks and regional cooperation.
During the forum, an exhibition on large investment projects in Siberia and the Far East will be held.
