Two people were killed and three were injured in a gas pipeline blast early on Friday, police said.
The blast occurred at about 4:30 am on a road in Jing'an district when five men were doing maintenance work on the pipeline. One person died on the spot and a second died later in hospital. The three injured men are out of danger, doctors said.
The gas supply and traffic in the city were unaffected.
