Int'l physics conference kicks off in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Fourth Asia-Pacific Conference on Few body Problems in Physics 2008 kicked off in Indonesia on Tuesday.

Over 100 world class physics experts from 24 countries took part in the five-day conference at the University of Indonesia (UI)campus, a spokesperson of the university Devie Rahmawati said.

"These people are outstanding physicians mostly from the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in the United States and from Tokyo University in Japan," she said.

The spokesperson said that Japan sent 30 percent of the total participants, the highest number, and Indonesia was represented by8 physicians.

The first conference held in 1999 at Tokyo, Japan. The next one was held in 2002 in Shanghai, China, and the third was held in 2005 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

During the meeting, the participants will discuss the latest techniques to solve "few-body" problems in physics and the latest findings in physics, she said.
