The Counter-Terrorism Bureau urged the Israelis traveling in the peninsula to leave immediately.
"Terror cells are devising for some time now the kidnapping of Israelis in Sinai, and may execute an abduction attack very soon," said a statement posted on the bureau's website.
The warning is effective immediately and is the most severe warning issued in the year, according to the statement.
Sinai is a popular tourist destination for Israeli travelers looking for a low-cost vacation abroad at a reasonable price. During the high season, the average number of Israelis visiting Sinai reaches 20,000.
