The king made the remarks during a meeting with the European Parliament President Hanz-Gert Pottering, who is in Jordan to take part in meetings of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (EMPA).
The king stressed the importance of continuing international efforts to advance the Middle East peace process. Europe has a central role to keep the momentum in the peace process, he added.
MPs from the EU and Jordan gathered on the shores of the Dead Sea from October 11 to 13 for meetings on Middle East peace process among other issues.
