The News Network International news agency quoted Secretary of the Election Commission Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad as saying that the notification of the Cabinet Division regarding the resignation of Pervez Musharraf from the office of President was received on Tuesday morning.
He said under Article 41 of the Constitution, it was mandatory that the election of the President could be held within thirty days.
He said the election of the President will be held through secret ballot and four Provincial Assemblies, National Assembly and Senate are the electoral college of the President.
Musharraf on Monday announced his decision to resign as Pakistani president and his resignation was formally accepted.
