Peking Opera artists vie for top honors
A crop of China's young Peking Opera talents are trying their luck at the on-going 8th national Peking Opera competition. All of them are trying their best to convince a panel of judges comprised of the most prestigious masters of the art form.
The competition entered its 8th day on Monday. The performances by the young artists on stage were welcomed with an enthusiastic response from the studio audience at China Central Television. Eventually Wang Lu, from the National Peking Opera Theater became the biggest winner of the night in the category of actors portraying martial roles.
Over the past week a number of contestants have gained recognition from the judges during the challenging event. Among them, Li Yang, Li Hong, Wang Jiaqing, Zhu Fu and Fu Xiru. In the coming three days, the top three winners in the category of an actress portraying a demure middle-aged female character will be decided.
