The poll asked 930 people between June 4 and July 2 "should Norway have soldiers in Afghanistan."
Norwegians have become more critical to the Norwegian military presence in Afghanistan. In the recent past, a majority has been positive to the deployment of Norwegian troops in Afghanistan. But now, 42 percent are in favor while 45 percent oppose deploying the troops in Afghanistan.
"The reason for the shift in opinion is that the public find it difficult to see any concrete results from the Norwegian engagement," said Henning Hoegseth, researcher at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).
Norway has contributed about 500 troops to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
