When watching a film about Israeli history three weeks ago, the two soldiers, serving in an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) brigade based in the Golan Heights, stood up and applauded during a segment relating to the 1995 Rabin assassination, said the Army Radio.
Immediately following the happening, the two were brought to a court-martial and sentenced to 10 days' imprisonment, said the report, adding that they were later ousted from the Golani fighting core.
The former prime minister, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994 together with current Israeli President Shimon Peres and late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, was assassinated on Nov. 4, 1995,in Tel Aviv by a right-wing Israeli radical, who opposed to his signing of the Oslo Accords.
Following the assassination, the square where the incident took place was renamed Rabin Square. The only assassinated Israeli prime minister has since been widely regarded a national symbol of Israeli peace camp ethos.
