"Instead of working within the mechanisms created with everyone's consent and fulfilling its obligations assumed during the negotiation process, they are making attempts to internationalize the conflicts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia," Lavrov told a press conference after a meeting with his Brazilian, Indian and Chinese counterparts.
The purpose of internationalizing these problems is propaganda. It also explains Georgia's submission to the United Nations a resolution on refugees and displaced persons in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone, said the top diplomat.
Tensions between Russia and Georgia have been escalating as Tbilisi blamed Moscow for supporting Georgia's two breakaway regions, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and blocking Georgia's bid for NATO membership.
Georgia proposed to hold an international conference on the settlement of the Georgia-Abkhazia conflict involving the European Union and the United States.
