SEOUL, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Samsung Electronics Co., the world's largest maker of computer memory chips, said Friday that its profit jumped 50.6 percent on-year to 2.14 trillion won (2.12 billion U.S. dollars) in the second quarter.
According to Samsung, sales in the April-June period gained 24 percent to 18.1 trillion won, while the company's operating profit more than doubled to 1.89 trillion won.
Sales of liquid crystal displays increased nine percent to 4.7 trillion won, sales of semiconductors rose four percent to 4.5 trillion won and those of mobile phones and other telecom equipment gained two percent to 6.1 trillion won, Samsung added.
