Abu Ali Mustafa brigades of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) claimed responsibility for launching two rockets into Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon.
"This shelling comes in response to the continued crimes and siege by the enemy," the brigades said in a statement sent to the media. "The enemy's settlers are not immune as long as the Palestinian people are not."
The armed groups resumed rocket attacks into Israel after an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire was shocked earlier this month by an Israeli army operation in southeast Gaza strip, leaving 15 Palestinian militants killed since then.
Since the start of the violence on Nov. 4, Israel has been closing Gaza Strip crossing points, also violating the ceasefire which held since June.
The Hamas-run ministry of health in Gaza, meanwhile, warned that the tow largest hospitals in Gaza will potentially halt operations due to power shortage. The only power plant in the territory was shut down due to the lack of fuel.
"Al-Shifa hospital and the European hospital face a serious crisis with a health disaster looming due to the blackout and the failure of some main generators which don't have spare parts," the ministry said in a statement.
