SEOUL, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Number of firms that went bankrupt in South Korea fell in June mainly due to the decrease of business failures in the service sector, the South Korean central bank said Friday.
According to the Bank of Korea (BOK), the businesses that defaulted in June reached 191, down 11 from a month earlier.
The number service businesses that went belly-up reached 74 down 21 from May while bankruptcies of manufacturers and builders rose by 7 to 67 and 8 to 46, respectively in the month of June, the BOK said.
Meanwhile, the number of start-ups amounted to 4,662 in June, up 549 from May, the BOK added.
The default rate on corporate bills reached 0.03 percent, 0.01 percent lower than that of the previous month, the central bank said.
