About six to seven thousands passengers have been affected by delays at Stockholm's Arlanda Airport due to a major snow storm hit the capital Monday.

The majority of flights were delayed by about two hours, though the airport was urging passengers to arrive on time for their scheduled flights unless advised otherwise by their airline, according to Swedish daily online The Local.

Up to date departure and arrival times couldn't be found at the airport's website, The Local said, adding that the situation at the airport remained calm Monday afternoon and most of passengers were sitting in the cafes and restaurants for waiting out the delay.

The stormy weather hit also most parts of Sweden's neighbor country Finland. Over 45,000 Finnish households were without power on Sunday. Heavy transport vehicles at the port end of the tunnel were badly affected by slippery road surfaces, according to reports reaching here from Helsinki.

Until Monday afternoon, at least 2,000 households remained without electricity in different parts of Finland, Finnish public broadcaster YLE reported.

But the storm that brought high winds and five to 30 centimeters of snow across Finland was passing, YLE said, adding that warmer temperatures later in the week were expected to come to southern parts of the country, and by the weekend in central areas.
