Three civilians were killed and 19others injured in a car bomb and roadside bomb explosions in Baghdad on Wednesday, an Interior Ministry source said.

"Three civilians were killed and eight others wounded when a booby-trapped car detonated in the afternoon in the neighborhood of Baghdad al-Jadida or New Baghdad in southeastern the capital," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast also damaged several nearby shops and civilian cars, the source said.

In a separate incident, six people were injured when a roadside struck a police patrol near the National Theater in Baghdad central district of Karrada, the source said.

Meanwhile, five civilians were also wounded by another roadside bomb explosion in the al-Kamalia neighborhood in southeastern Baghdad, he added.

Also in the day, a roadside bomb hit a U.S. patrol on a highway in central Baghdad, the source said, without giving further details as the troops immediately sealed off the area.

The U.S. military did not confirm the incident yet.

Sporadic attacks continue in Baghdad despite the U.S. and Iraqi officials' announcement of a relative lull in violence during the past months.
