"We refute the allegations of the ICC chief prosecutor, and we assure the whole world that what ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo said is nothing but fabrications," the leaders of Zaghawa, Fur and Masalit tribes told a mass rally in the rally the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur in the presence of the president.
The three tribal chiefs also endorsed their support for the position of the Sudanese government, which refuses to deal with the ICC and rejects their prosecutor's allegations as "null and false."
Omar al-Bashir arrived earlier Wednesday at the city of El Fasher on a two-day visit to the troubled western Sudanese region of Darfur.
The visit came after over one week after the ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo requested an arrest warrant against al-Bashir for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur. The last time al-Bashir visited here was in July 2007.
