BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhuanet) --Cell phone service provider Verizon Wireless said Tuesday it added 1.5 million net new subscribers during the second quarter, bringing its total to 68.7 million.
Citi Investment Research analyst Michael Rollins had estimated net customer additions of 1.35 million. He reiterated a "Buy" rating on Verizon CommunicationsInc., which owns the majority of Verizon Wireless, its joint venture with Britain's Vodafone Group PLC.
Shares of Verizon Communications slid 8 U.S. cents to 35.07 U.S. dollars in morning trading. The company plans to post its earnings on July 28.
Vodafone shares lost 3.77 dollars, or 12.7 percent, to 25.96 dollars after the company lowered its revenue forecast. The stock earlier hit a year low of 25.50 dollars.
