A pregnant wild boar sow weighing more than 300 kg has terrorized 300 or so villagers since it decided to make its home on their crop land in Beijing's Fangshan district. Many residents, among them farmer Ren Liandong whom the sow frightened away from his fields, are too scared to go to work.

Police have twice tried to hunt down the animal in an effort to protect farmers from injury, but failed on both occasions. Over the past few days, only a few brave farmers, armed with sticks, have been to work on their farmland.
