LOS ANGELES, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Internet giant Yahoo won a bigger share of U.S. Internet search queries last month while fighting off advances from Microsoft, according to figures released on Saturday.
Yahoo had a 20.9 percent share in June, up from 20.6 percent in the previous month, shrinking the gap with market leader Google, according to Internet research institute ComScore based in Reston, Virginia.
Internet search giant Google's share dropped to 61.5 percent from 61.8 percent, while Microsoft took third place with 9.2 percent, compared with 8.5 percent in May, said ComScore.
Overall, Americans conducted 11.5 billion searches on the Internet in June, a 7 percent increase from May, ComScore said. The results released by both Microsoft and Google trailed analysts' estimates. Yahoo plans to report earnings Tuesday.
