Now, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games that commands the attention of the world is getting nearer every minute, China's communication facility manufacturers are sparing no effort to providing the best technical facilities to the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games is not only an arena for athletes, but also a display of science and technologies and a platform for the image exhibition of relevant industries and enterprises. Broadband data facilities, as the information hinge of the Olympic Games, have a self-evident high requirement on various aspects of the facilities supplied by the communication facility providers, such as the performance and service. As a close cooperator of several domestic leading operators, ZTE Corporation has launched a well-conceived communication service plan for the Olympics, providing the Olympics with an overall communication support, including 3G TD-SCDMA network, TD-SCDMA cell phones, GOTA contingency communication, broadband access, IPTV, optical transmission and communication guarantee service for the Olympics, and become the top 3G facility provider for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, as well as the communication facility manufacturer providing the most varieties of facilities and businesses.
One of the highlights in the communication service for the Beijing Olympic Games is to apply TD-SCDMA, the 3G Chinese standard. Through taking the advantage of the wireless bandwidth, China Mobile has launched six Olympic highlight businesses, including wireless broadband Internet connection, Olympic mobile phone TVs, Olympic video on demand, Olympic newsflash, Olympic multi-media ring-tone for mobile phones, and intercommunication of mobile phones and POC. In order to help subscribers to access Olympic information in time and enjoy the new technologies and businesses brought by TD for the Games, China Mobile has also launched such businesses with Olympic features as mobile-phone-edition Olympic official website, Olympic in the palms and mobile-phone newspaper about Olympics, and all of these services are provided for subscribers through 3G terminal TD-SCDMA mobile phones. Therefore, China Mobile, sponsor of the Beijing Olympic Games, has procured over 200,000 ZTE TD-SCDMA mobile phones and data cards to enable more subscribers to enjoy the brand new experience brought by the 3G innovative service. Earlier, ZTE Corporation has undertaken the construction of TD-SCDMA network in Beijing independently, and has taken part in the construction of 3G network for the Olympics in such four cities as Qingdao, Qinhuangdao, Tianjin and Shenyang. Occupying more than 50 percent of the market share, ZTE has taken up around 30 percent of the market share in the two bids for TD-SCDMA mobile phones held recently, making it the largest communication facility and terminal provider for the Olympic 3G service.
Beginning from the end of this June, China Unicom and the Olympic cooperator China Network Communications Corporation (CNC) have also conducted communication guarantee drilling in many cities, and ZTE Corporation, the No. 1 CDMA provider for China Unicom and the major provider for the ADSL of CDMA, has taken an active role in the drilling organized by the operators. Meanwhile, cooperating with China Telecom and China Satcom, ZTE Corporation also takes charge of the emergency communication guarantee work for the Olympic sailing vessel competition in Qingdao, providing the Olympic Games with the next generation digital trunking system GOTA with the entire independent intellectual right, which is the first application of the domestic digital trunking system in the Olympic Games. And the IPTV project of China Telecom in Shanghai undertaken by ZTE Corporation is the largest H.264-version IPTV city network in the world, and is being actively upgraded lately, which can support 12M-bandwidth high definition television service after the upgrade. As introduced by the relevant insider of ZTE Corporation, it is the second time that ZTE Corporation became the major communication facility provider for the Olympics after jointly and exclusively providing ADSL broadband communication service for the Athens Olympic Games with OTE, one of European famous operators. ZTE Corporation is making great efforts to cooperating with various big operators to do well in the communication service for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
